The Indiana Grantmakers Alliance provides corporate members
with activities for peer networking and professional development.
The Alliance is also committed to encouraging corporate involvement
in the community. Therefore, the staff will work cohesively
with corporations to involve them in community organizations,
activities and events. The following activities are provided
to corporate members by the Indiana Grantmakers Alliance:
Corporate Donor-Sponsored Breakfast Meetings
The Indiana Grantmakers Alliance sponsors regular breakfast
meetings for corporate foundations and/or giving programs.
These meetings enable corporations to meet with fellow colleagues
and discuss community issues and strategies relative to corporate
philanthropy.
Corporate Track at the Indiana Grantmakers Alliance
Fall Conference
At the Indiana Grantmakers Alliance Fall Conference,
a separate track for corporations is offered. This Corporate
Track contains sessions designed to improve the practice of
corporate philanthropy, provide new and innovative corporate
giving strategies, and discuss solutions to issues affecting
the corporate philanthropist. Furthermore, the Corporate Track
will encourage communication, networking, and involvement
among colleagues in the field. See
the Corporate Track from the 2004 Fall Conference (pdf).
Corporate Member Meetings and Seminars
The Indiana Grantmakers Alliance offers a variety
of activities for the purpose of professional development.
These activities include meetings and seminars that involve
speakers, both state and national, who are practitioners in
the field. These sessions provide information on hot topics
in the field of corporate philanthropy and ways to improve
the practice of corporate grantmaking.
Leadership Opportunities
The Indiana Grantmakers Alliance provides information
on leadership opportunities in the community and within the
Alliance itself. These opportunities include nonprofit governance,
participation on the Alliance’s committees and Board
of Directors, and leadership positions within community
based organizations. Corporate members also receive assistance
from fellow peers on engagement in organizations needing board
leadership. Corporate members can encourage employee participation
in such opportunities to develop and utilize employee leadership
skills.
Community Activities
Corporate members receive invitations to community
activities, philanthropic events, and community meetings.
Events can include the Indiana
Achievement Awards, Indiana
Leadership Summit, The
Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University Annual Symposium
and the Indiana
Grantmakers Alliance Fall Conference. Hosting opportunities
are also available for those corporations seeking a higher
level of involvement.
